2019 NAF Five Star National Horse Trials

The BRC NAF Five Star National Horse Trials Championships is a competition for both seniors and juniors, teams and individuals.

At the championships the HT100 and HT100+ take place over three days as a traditional long format competition. Dressage is completed on the first day; The roads and tracks and steeplechase phases are in addition to the cross country on the second day with the show jumping on the third and final day. The HT100+ is at the same height as the HT100 in the cross country phase, but with the show jumping at 110cm - this competition is open to both juniors and seniors who are able to compete in a mixed class.

The HT90 take place over two days, also with roads and tracks and steeplechase in addition to the cross country phase. Dressage and Show Jumping are completed on day one before they embark on the different phases on day two.

The HT80 classes are one-day events with no roads and tracks or steeplechase. Competitors ride their dressage, followed by the show jumping round and lastly they will tackle the cross country all in one day. Open HT80 is open for both senior and junior individual and will run over two days. Details can be found in the BRC handbook and schedule.

This year we have members qualified in the Senior 90, 100 and Juniors in the 90 and 80 classes and wish them all the very best of luck!

NAF Five Star National Championships

Riders are able to compete in a range of competitions at this championship, from dressage to style jumping both individually and as part of a team. We also have a couple of direct entry dressage classes which do not require any qualification (please see below). For eligibility of horse and rider, and to see what a combination is eligible to compete in, please see the current BRC Handbook.

Dressage
The Championships include a wide range of dressage classes ranging from prelim right the way up to Advanced Medium. Intro classes have been added to this years competition for both senior and juniors.

Riding Test
The riding test is similar to a dressage test, but marks are awarded according to the rider’s performance (effectiveness and presentation of the test), and the horse’s paces are not considered. This competition can be ridden as an individual or as part of a team; For senior teams, two members ride the Prelim RT and the other two ride the Novice RT. Junior team members all ride Prelim RT.

Show Jumping
The 70cm, 80cm and 90cm are all split in to juniors and seniors with the 100cm and 110cm being mixed classes.

Style Jumping
Style jumping is similar to show jumping, but marks are based on the rider’s performance and effectiveness rather than the horse's. There is a 75cm class and an 85cm class for this competition and is split into juniors and seniors. Individuals and teams may compete in this class; teams must have two riders ride at 75cm and two ride at 85cm.
