VERY SAD NEWS
It is with great sadness we report the deaths of Bill Turner and David Porter.
Marilyn and her husband Bill ran their successful farm at Capel alongside their son's Land-Rover business. Bill rode in his younger days, and he and Marilyn bred a number of horses which were purchased by the Mounted Police Training Centre.
Carol's husband David was not a rider, his preference being sailing and golf. But their lives changed completely in 1992 when Carol had her cross country accident. Accepting she would not ride again, she turned her hand to driving instead - with outstanding success. David was her rock, helping with the ponies, driving the lorry and acting as back step during competitions. And for many years he provided valuable help for HDRC's Open Horse Trials.
Bill and David were among our unsung heros....not members but those who quietly give valuable behind-the-scenes support to their partners for the good of the Club, and for this we owe them our gratitude. We send our love and condolences to Marilyn and Carol at this sad time as they adjust to life without their soul mates.
We also send condolences to our horse trials heroine Helen Millichamp whose father has died. Helen had well deserved success at the BRC Championships at Swalcliffe recently, when she won the prestigious 100+ cm eventing title.
Marilyn is our President, Carol is our Treasurer & Vice Chairman, and Helen is our Horse Trials Teams Organiser. So on hehalf of Donald, the Committee and members, thank you all for what you do for us. Your knowledge and dedication is what makes Horsham & District Riding Club, and it is much appreciated.

SALE OF CLUB's SHOW JUMPS
The club has decided to sell its two trailers and show jumps as they are rarely used these days with most people wanting to only jump on a surface and when we run these events we can hire the jumps with the venue . These jumps are in good condition and have been well looked after and maintained. They are mainly wood but there are some plastic jump for joy ones. The trailers will also be available when the jumps have gone but are being used for storage at the moment. HDRC members are being given first refusal and discounted prices so see the website " ADVERTS "page for more details . Two open mornings to view and buy them will be held on sat 13th and 27th October. If you are interested please contact Sam York on firstname.lastname@example.org
