Date: 9th May 2018

The Intermediate Championships took place at Bury Farm EC, Slapton, Bucks.  Writing this report on a gorgeous sunny day it’s hard to believe just how wet and cold a weekend it was.

On Friday Debbie Scott-Downes on her super cob Match Maker set off to do the individual Elementary test. Due to heavy rain and loud classical music being played over the speakers that Bert wasn’t very keen on their test wasn’t quite as relaxed as usual but still did extremely well to finish 11th.
Also on Friday Eleanor Petrie on Seafolly were representing the club in the 110cm jumping. Unfortunately Seafolly is allergic to grass and having managed to escape the night before wasn’t right and was eliminated.

Saturday was the turn of the senior 90cm show jumping team who thankfully were in the indoor arena including the warm up. The rain was continuing and was starting to cause the temporary stables to become water logged. The team had been reduced to 3 before we went and then sadly Natalie’s horse pulled a shoe off a few days before and wasn’t sound enough to compete. This left Amy Little on True Diamond Lady and Caroline Exley on Copperfield Iris to jump as individuals. Amy jumped two lovely fluent rounds just having an unlucky pole in each to finish on a total of 8 faults. Caroline didn’t do so well when Iris took a dislike to the combination running down the side of the gallery and was eliminated.

Finally on Sunday our two juniors, Olivia Nolan on Cool As A Breeze doing 90cm jumping and Katie Saunders on Glencauth Lad doing Novice dressage had their turn. Olivia did really well finishing 8th and Katie did a good test out in the constant rain but finished out of the placings.

Well done everyone for braving the wet conditions.
