HDRC’s first President

LADY GILBEY - HDRC President from 1970-1975

We are sad to announce the death of Horsham & District Riding Club’s first President, Lady Elizabeth (Libby) Gilbey, at the great age of 98.

Libby was a very early member of the Club which was formed in 1967. She lived at Culross, Faygate, from where she started a very successful Welsh pony stud carrying the Culross prefix. She won many championships with her young stock, many of which went on to achieve great success as ridden show ponies.

Libby became our first President in 1970. Well attended AGMs were held at her lovely home from 1970-1975, as well as instructions and tests. She resigned in 1976 when she moved to Wineham to expand her stud.

We send our condolences to her family. Donations in her memory to World Horse Welfare can be sent c/o H.D. Tribe, Storrington RH20 4DZ. Tel: 01903 742585
