BRC NAF Five Star Combined Championship 2023

At the NAF Combined Championship we had a senior team in the 90cm Combined Challenge and one senior member in the Combined Training.

It was really fortunate that the sun had finally decided to come out and after a week with no rain the going was perfect for the challenge at Aston-le-Walls Equestrian Centre. The combined challenge consists of a round on show jumps immediately followed by a short cross country course. First to go for Horsham was Michelle Nash on her super pony Brians Pride and they got us off to a great start with a double clear and just a few time penalties. Next was Lorna Tullett on her lovely mare Jilly Jumbo but she was sticky round the show jumping and after a stop on the cross country phase Lorna decided to retire as Jilly wasn't feeling right. Helen Millichamp was on her young eventer Tornado who as he's a big onward bound horse had trouble with the tight turns in the show jumping phase and shot past a few fences. The last to go was Rachel Webb riding another handsome grey, Bluegrass Royalty and they rode a lovely double clear and finished with a few time penalties.

Over on the other side of the showground the combined training was taking place where Sam Llewellyn was doing the Novice 27 and 85cm jumping on her lovely boy Cavaliers Laidback Luca. They scored a great dressage score of 32.7 and went clear show jumping which put them in joint second place however the other rider on 32.7 did a faster show jumping round so Sam finished 3rd.

Well done everyone you all looked very smart and a credit to the club!
