This is the last Championship of the 2022 season run for novice BRC members from Areas 6, 10, 11 & 13. This year it was Area 11's turn to be the organiser and was held at Heath Farm, Munstead, Godalming, GU7 1AX.
There are competitions for Horse Trials, Show jumping, Dressage and Combined training.
Our dressage team consisted of Phia Head (junior) on DJ, David Ware on Stanley, Georgie Ambrose on Copperbeech Apollo and Eleanor Fowler on Lulwind Airs ‘n’ Graces. Eleanor rode a really good test to get 69.42% just .2% behind the winner in her class. David, despite having a couple of satnav errors still managed to finish 6th in his section. Although the other two were unplaced as individuals the team still came 6th.
In the horse trials team there was Caroline Exley on Copperfield Iris, Beckii Davies on Oxhill Blue, Liv Nolan on Glory Firkou and Emily Hamilton (junior) on Castlecoote Storm. Phoebe Harvey-Mason(junior) was entered as an individual on Phensara Cruz Control. They all rode good dressage tests with Beckii getting a great score of just 23.2. All of them jumped clear in the show jumping except for Caroline and Iris who just rolled the last pole. The cross country course was riding really well and causing very little trouble except Beckii's horse decided to think twice before getting his hooves wet in the water getting them 20 penalties and Liv's horse who can be rather spooky decided the owl hole wasn't for him and whipped round leaving Liv behind. Emily finished 5th in her section, Caroline 4th in hers and the team came 6th overall.
We were very fortunate to have lovely weather on the day and Maxine Gayler very kindly volunteered to be the club helper. The whole championship was really well organised by Area 11 and everyone enjoyed the day.
